Opposition Blames Bhagwant Mann Government for Security Lapse in Moga

The blast that shattered the façade of the Moga senior police station on July 9 has become a political flashpoint. Union Minister for Railways and Food Processing Ravneet Singh Bittu posted on X that the incident demonstrates a total breakdown in the state’s ability to enforce law and order. He warned that the incident confirms the presence of forces intent on disrupting Punjab’s peace.

Bittu compared the act of setting off an explosive to lighting a single spark that spreads fear across the community, emphasizing that the fallout is borne entirely by Punjabis.

Congress chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring also weighed in, describing the blast as symptomatic of a deteriorating security environment under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. He questioned how ordinary citizens can feel protected when law‑enforcement facilities themselves become targets, and urged the chief minister to provide concrete answers rather than relying on campaign rhetoric.

The issue emerges as Punjab’s political calendar points toward the 2027 state assembly elections, with speculation about an accelerated poll in late 2026 growing louder among opposition circles.
