Opposition coalition faces criticism from both CPI(M) and BJP over Vijayan's alleged financial dealings

The United Democratic Front (UDF) government finds itself squeezed from opposite ends. The CPI(M) maintains that the administration, under a Congress‑BJP understanding, is orchestrating actions against Pinarayi Vijayan. In contrast, the BJP asserts that the crime‑branch inquiry is deliberately designed to protect Vijayan from a robust investigation.

According to the BJP, the investigation should have been conducted under the Prevention of Corruption Act, and if the government is earnest about the case, it must immediately transfer the matter to the Central Bureau of Investigation. Meanwhile, the UDF states that it has launched a probe based on a letter from the Enforcement Directorate and will proceed according to law.
