The third day of the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament commenced at 11 am. Opposition parties were poised to intensify their calls for discussions regarding the Pahalgam terror attack and the revision of voter rolls in Bihar. Continuous protests from Opposition MPs on these matters caused both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha to be adjourned for the second consecutive day on Tuesday.
In the Lok Sabha, Opposition leaders entered the Well of the House at 11 am, displaying placards and chanting slogans demanding the withdrawal of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar. Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan urged that Question Hour be allowed to proceed, but the protests continued, leading Speaker Om Birla to adjourn the House until noon. Subsequent reconvenings faced similar disruptions, resulting in further adjournments.
The Rajya Sabha experienced similar scenes, with repeated uproar over the same issues. The Upper House was ultimately adjourned for the day shortly after it reconvened post-lunch at 2 pm, without conducting any business.
