Following the discovery of a fraudulent residential certificate issued in the name of “Dog Babu,” the Patna district administration took decisive action. The Masaurhi revenue officer has been recommended for suspension, and the IT Assistant has been relieved of their duties due to dereliction of duty. The Patna District Magistrate, after an inquiry revealed that the officials had improperly used digital signatures on the fake certificate, recommended the suspension of the revenue officer to the Revenue and Land Reforms Department. The IT Assistant was removed for forwarding the application without proper verification. An investigation was launched after the incident came to light, prompting the government to order a thorough investigation. The inquiry revealed that the applicant used someone else’s Aadhaar and Voter ID information to obtain the certificate. An FIR has been filed against the Revenue Officer, IT Manager, and the unknown applicant. Police are investigating the applicant for identity theft and the misuse of documentation. The controversial residential certificate has been canceled. Furthermore, the Bihar Prashashnik Sudhar Mission Society has instructed all District Magistrates to strictly enforce the verification process on the NIC’s Service Plus platform. The society plans to use AI to strengthen the system and prevent any form of tampering.
