Paytm KYC Scam Busted: Delhi Police Arrests 3 in Multi-State Cyber Heist

Delhi Police have exposed a sophisticated cybercrime network that exploited the Paytm KYC process to defraud citizens. In a coordinated crackdown, three individuals were arrested for their role in providing mule accounts and digital tools essential to the scam. The fraudsters contacted victims pretending to be Paytm representatives, tricked them into handing over phone access, and swiftly transferred funds. A tea seller from Delhi lost ₹90,000 after falling for the ruse. Technical surveillance and analysis of beneficiary accounts helped police identify the money trail leading to Punjab. The arrested trio—Special Singh from Panchkula, Sachin Maurya, and Himachal Pradesh resident Ashish Sharma—were part of a wider network spanning multiple states. They admitted to collecting and distributing bank kits and registered SIMs for a fee. The gang used social media to stay connected and execute their operations. Authorities continue to investigate further transactions and connections to unravel the full extent of this inter-state fraud syndicate.
