Delhi’s metro network saw a significant change on November 16th as three stations received new identities. In a move aimed at enhancing local recognition and passenger convenience, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced the renaming of stations, including one currently in operation and two under construction. The well-known Pitampura Metro Station will now officially be called Madhuban Chowk Metro Station. This change seeks to provide a clearer sense of place for commuters. Additionally, a new station located near VIPS College will be identified as Haiderpur Metro Station, reflecting its local roots. Another upcoming station in Q-Block, previously referred to as northern Pitampura, will now be known as Uttari Pitampura-Prashant Vihar Metro Station. These decisions were influenced by local community requests, particularly from Haiderpur residents who felt the station should acknowledge its village origin. The renaming ceremony coincided with a significant cultural event, the arrival of the sacred Rezang La Shaheed Raj Kalash Yatra, honoring the martyrs of the Rezang La battle. The Chief Minister paid her respects to the urn, emphasizing the pride associated with the procession reaching Haiderpur. Further development in the area was highlighted, including road widening and an underpass project, underscoring a commitment to regional progress and improved infrastructure.
