Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for several projects in Assam’s Darrang district, including the Darrang Medical College and Hospital, the GNM School, and the B.Sc. Nursing College. He also initiated the Guwahati Ring Road Project and the Kuruwa-Narengi Bridge over the Brahmaputra River. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was present and presented a memento to PM Modi, commemorating Krishak Swahid Diwas, in remembrance of the 1894 massacre in Darrang.
Addressing the public, PM Modi reflected on his recent visit to Assam, referencing ‘Operation Sindoor’ and expressing a sense of spiritual significance, particularly due to the presence of Maa Kamakhya and the celebration of Janmashtami. He also mentioned his earlier remarks from the Red Fort, relating to a future security policy.
The Prime Minister stated, “Yahi mera remote control hai. Mera aur koi remote control nahi hai, 140 crore deshwasi mera remote control hai…”
PM Modi also lauded Assam as one of India’s fastest-growing states, noting a 13% growth rate. He emphasized that Assam has transformed significantly and is now making remarkable progress, playing a key role in India’s economic growth.
Furthermore, PM Modi criticized the opposition, making remarks that seemingly targeted the Congress party. He used metaphorical language, referencing the treatment of ‘Kamdaar’ by ‘Namdaar’ and highlighting the importance of respecting Assam’s cultural heritage and fostering its rapid development. This, he stated, were priorities of the current government.
