Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed concern over the growing issue of infiltration in Assam, labeling it a significant challenge. Speaking in Golaghat, Assam, he criticized previous Congress governments, alleging they facilitated infiltrators and disrupted the state’s demographic balance for political gain. Modi emphasized the current BJP government’s commitment to addressing infiltration, in collaboration with the people of Assam. He also commended the Assam government, led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, for its Mission Basundhara initiative, highlighting the BJP’s dedication to rectifying what he termed historical injustices against tribal communities. Modi inaugurated several projects during his visit, including a bamboo-based refinery unit, and acknowledged the warm reception he received in the Northeast, particularly in Assam.
