Prime Minister Narendra Modi met King Charles at Sandringham House in the UK following the conclusion of the India-UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA). The meeting was a key diplomatic event, signifying the strengthening relationship between the two countries. The Royal Family shared details of the meeting, mentioning a tree presented to the King inspired by PM Modi’s ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative. The FTA ensures that nearly all Indian exports will have duty-free access to the British market, while tariffs on UK goods entering India will be significantly reduced, benefiting Indian consumers. This agreement is particularly advantageous for India’s agricultural sector, providing opportunities for exports of items like tea, mangoes, spices, and seafood. Furthermore, the deal will lower import duties on UK-produced whisky and gin, and reduce tariffs on automobiles, subject to quota restrictions.
