Police Detain Two Suspects After TMC-BJP Rift Escalates in Mukundpur

The Mukundpur district of Kolkata became the scene of a political clash on September 23 when members of the Trinamool Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party disputed control of a TMC office. Tensions rose after a TMC gathering demanded the BJP‑held premises be vacated, prompting a heated exchange that soon turned into a melee. Injuries were reported, notably to former senior police officer Humayun Kabir. Following a formal complaint lodged at East Jadavpur police station, investigators reviewed video evidence and collected statements, resulting in the arrest of Shreedip Das and Pritam Pandey. Authorities warned that more arrests could be made pending verification of further evidence.
