Police Probe Motive Behind Shooting of Ex‑Councillor Anil Yadav

Patna’s law‑enforcement agencies launched a full‑scale investigation after former municipal councilor Anil Yadav was gunned down in Buddha Colony on September 23. The attack, allegedly carried out by two gunmen on a motorcycle, left Yadav with at least five bullet wounds. He was immediately shifted to Udhyan Hospital, where he remains under close observation.

The shooting took place in the basement of Yadav’s apartment, a building that also hosts a girls’ hostel on its ground level, amplifying public fear. Residents reported that the assailants fled the scene after discarding their firearms.

Police from the Buddha Colony police station arrived within minutes, preserving the crime scene and collecting ballistic evidence. Investigators are now scrutinising CCTV footage from the complex and adjoining streets to pinpoint the perpetrators. Several search operations have already been executed at locations suspected of harboring the gunmen.

ASP Krishna Murari Prasad disclosed that the motive is still unclear, but investigators are looking into possible political grudges, previous personal disputes, and the recent killing of Yadav’s son. The connection between the two violent episodes is being examined thoroughly.

The incident has prompted an increased police presence in the area, and officials have assured the public that all avenues are being pursued to bring the culprits to justice.
