A new NCERT module has sparked political controversy by assigning blame for India’s partition to Jinnah, the Congress, and Mountbatten. The Congress has countered, holding the RSS, Hindu Mahasabha, and Muslim League primarily responsible. BJP National Spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia retorted, accusing the Congress of being perturbed by the revelation of historical truths. Bhatia stated that the NCERT incorporated the harsh realities of the partition into the curriculum, causing distress to the ‘Rahul-Jinnah’ party, implying an ideological alignment. He emphasized that the new generation should know the truth behind the partition, which was based on religious grounds, pointing to the similarities between the ideologies of Rahul Gandhi and Mohammad Ali Jinnah. Bhatia questioned why the Congress was upset about the inclusion of partition details in the curriculum, urging them to clarify the reasons behind the partition. He further criticized the Congress for questioning the RSS, a patriotic organization that has preserved India’s heritage, especially after the Prime Minister mentioned the RSS from the ramparts of the Red Fort on August 15th. He added that the Congress does not know its own history, citing an instance where Jawaharlal Nehru invited the RSS to the Republic Day parade in 1963.
