    In a private ceremony held at a luxury hotel in Lucknow, Rinku Singh, the celebrated cricketer, announced his engagement to Priya Saroj, the Member of Parliament representing Machhlishahr in Uttar Pradesh. The event on Saturday saw a gathering of notable personalities from various fields. Among those present were Akhilesh Yadav, the National President of the Samajwadi Party, Rajeev Shukla, the Vice-President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, and Jaya Bachchan, actress and politician. The engagement has been widely publicized on social media through photos and videos. The wedding is scheduled to take place on November 18th at the Taj Hotel in Varanasi.

    Priya Saroj is a young politician and lawyer. At 26, she holds the position of Member of Parliament from Machhlishahr. She is the daughter of Tufani Saroj, a three-time MP and the current MLA from Kerakat. Priya’s political career began with her election in the 2024 general elections, representing the Samajwadi Party under Akhilesh Yadav’s leadership. Born in Varanasi on November 23, 1998, she attended Air Force Golden Jubilee Institute in New Delhi. She later obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from Pradesh University (Turkey) and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Amity University, Noida. Following her education, she practiced law in the Supreme Court of India. Initially aspiring to be a judge, she transitioned to politics. In the 2024 elections, she secured a comfortable victory in Machhlishahr, a constituency previously held by her father, with a margin of 35,850 votes. Her campaign focused on issues such as youth employment and women’s empowerment.
