A narrow, old bridge over the Indrayani River near Talegaon in Pune collapsed on Sunday afternoon, resulting in the deaths of four individuals and injuries to 51 others. The incident occurred around 3:15 pm, with officials alerted by 3:30 pm. Rescue teams were promptly deployed to the scene. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has announced financial aid of Rs 5 lakh to the families of the deceased and stated that the state government will cover the medical expenses of the injured. The deceased have been identified as Chandrakant Salve, Rohit Mane, and Vihaan Mane, while one victim remains unidentified. Initial reports suggest that 15-20 people were on the bridge when it collapsed. District Collector Jitendra Dudi confirmed the details, adding that rescue operations began swiftly with a team of approximately 250 people. The Quick Response Team has assessed the situation. Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressed his sorrow and spoke with CM Fadnavis, offering prayers for the injured.
