Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has declared a firm stance against the drug menace plaguing the state, vowing to bring those responsible to justice. Speaking at the dedication of new Tehsil complexes in Ahmedgarh and Amargarh, Mann stated that there would be no leniency for individuals who have spread the scourge of drugs. He announced that the ‘drug Jarnails,’ once considered untouchable, are now behind bars.
Mann emphasized that the drug trade was once facilitated by those in positions of power, who even utilized official vehicles for their illicit activities. He criticized the previous leaders for enabling the drug lords while claiming his government has taken decisive action. He called for public support in this crucial battle and highlighted the success of the Yudh Nasheyan Virudh campaign. The Chief Minister also spoke about introducing the Punjab Prevention of Crime Against Religious Scriptures Bill, 2025, emphasizing the commitment to protect religious sentiments and ensure strict punishment for those committing sacrilege.
Mann also discussed the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna, a comprehensive healthcare scheme providing cashless medical treatment to every resident family. He underscored the government’s focus on generating job creators rather than job seekers, and its dedication to transparency in government job recruitment. He highlighted that over 55,000 youth had been given government jobs. Mann concluded by reiterating the government’s zero-tolerance policy towards corruption and its commitment to delivering citizen-centric services.
