In a significant operation, the counter-intelligence unit of Amritsar police dismantled a cross-border heroin smuggling network with ties to Pakistan. The operation, conducted near the Indo-Pak border in Attari, resulted in the seizure of 4 kg of heroin. The investigation revealed that the suspects were intercepted while transporting the heroin consignment. Further investigation is underway to trace the complete network and its connections. The Amritsar Police Commissionerate had previously taken down a sophisticated, multi-layered heroin trafficking operation linked to Pakistan. Key accused Sarbjit aka Joban, who was in contact with a known smuggler across the border, was arrested along with a juvenile, and 1 kg of heroin was recovered. Two additional smugglers, Dharam Singh and Kulbir Singh, were also arrested earlier, with a seizure of 5 kg of heroin. A total of 6.106 kg of heroin was recovered, along with two motorcycles. The First Information Report was registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
