Delhi is experiencing significant disruptions following a powerful car explosion near the Red Fort Metro Station. The incident has severely impacted traffic flow across the national capital. In response to the ongoing investigation and site clearing operations, the Delhi Traffic Police have implemented comprehensive restrictions.
Commuters are strongly urged to avoid Netaji Subhash Marg between Chatta Rail Cut and Subhash Marg Cut, in both directions, starting from 6:00 AM. These diversions are crucial to facilitate the work of police and forensic teams currently collecting evidence from the blast site, which remains cordoned off. The explosion scattered car debris, including the steering wheel and wiring, up to 300 meters away.
Investigators have identified the prime suspect in the bombing as Dr. Mohammad Umar, a fugitive linked to the Faridabad terror module. CCTV footage revealed Umar driving the Hyundai i20 that detonated. Sources indicate the attack was carried out by Umar and two accomplices in a state of panic following earlier arrests in Faridabad. The explosion, confirmed to be from a high-intensity ANFO explosive, occurred during peak tourist hours near Sunehri Masjid. The vehicle was reportedly parked for approximately three hours before detonating at the Subhash Marg traffic signal.
