Reservation Seats in Madurantakam, Dharapuram Set for Oct 6 Vote After Nomination Scrutiny

Two reserved assembly constituencies – Madurantakam and Dharapuram – are slated to go to the polls on 6 October. The electoral schedule moves forward once the nomination papers are vetted and the withdrawal period concludes. In Madurantakam, the scrutiny team accepted 28 candidates out of 48 applicants, while 20 were rejected. In Dharapuram, the commission cleared 22 candidates from an original pool of 51. The final candidate list will be published after the last day for withdrawals on Saturday, setting the stage for a tightly contested by‑election that could gauge the strength of regional Dravidian parties, the TVK and left‑wing formations.
