The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has given the green light to the Shahberi Flyover project, aiming to alleviate traffic congestion for commuters traveling between Ghaziabad and Greater Noida. The GDA has authorized the construction of a 200-meter-long ramp as part of the flyover, located on Ghaziabad land. This project is expected to significantly reduce traffic problems in Greater Noida West. The project’s progress had been stalled for several months due to delays in obtaining necessary clearances. With the recent approval, the Greater Noida administration has initiated construction, following clearance from the Ghaziabad administration. A Detailed Project Report (DPR) and an Expression of Interest (EOI) are anticipated to be circulated soon. Before construction begins, the authorities will submit a proposal to the government to secure budget approval, allocate funding, and select a construction agency. A feasibility study, conducted by IIT Roorkee, assessed the project’s feasibility, including traffic analysis, length, soil testing, and potential construction obstacles. The flyover is planned to be wider than 7.5 meters. The flyover will be constructed at the junction of Greater Noida, Noida, and Ghaziabad, and is designed to address the growing traffic issues in Greater Noida West. The project’s approval includes covering a drainage channel in Crossing Republic, Ghaziabad, allowing for smoother vehicle flow after exiting the flyover.
