A meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on External Affairs took place on Tuesday. Members of a delegation of US lawmakers visiting India also participated. During the meeting, issues such as recent US tariffs on Indian goods and the H-1B visa program were discussed. The silence of Indian-American immigrants regarding the decisions of the Trump administration was also brought up during the meeting.
The visit involves five Democratic Party Congress members from the United States. The American representatives acknowledged the strength and resilience of the Indian economy during the meeting, but also expressed concern about the increase in H-1B visa fees by the US government.
