Sidhi Fire Kills Three Kids; CM Announces Relief for Family

In a heart-wrenching incident that unfolded on Saturday in Sidhi district, three children lost their lives after their house caught fire in Kasihwa village. The tragedy occurred when a short-circuit from overhead electricity wires sent sparks flying onto dry thatch, rapidly consuming the entire structure. Eyewitnesses described how the flames spread with alarming speed, leaving little time for rescue. The children's mother had gone out to purchase essential supplies, locking the door behind her, while their father was working in a nearby town. With no adult supervision inside, the siblings—ranging in age from 18 months to six years—were unable to escape the blaze. Local residents made desperate attempts to break through the burning debris but were forced back by the intense heat. Firefighting teams arrived after the alarm was raised, but the damage was already done. The bodies of the three victims were recovered and sent for post-mortem. The entire village is now enveloped in grief, with residents lighting lamps in memory of the departed souls. Reacting to the incident, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav posted on X, describing the deaths as "extremely tragic." He assured the family of immediate financial assistance, with the state government sanctioning Rs 6 lakh per child and the district Red Cross adding Rs 20,000 each. Officials have since visited the site to assess safety measures in similar households.
