A 74-year-old former bank manager tragically lost his life in Faridabad’s Sector 88 after a portion of a skywalk gave way. The incident occurred when Khulwant Singh was tending to plants on an elevated iron bridge connecting two residential towers. Police reports indicate that the structure, initially intended as a fire escape, had been converted into a garden by residents. The family of the deceased has alleged negligence on the part of the Residents Welfare Committee (RWA), prompting a police investigation into structural maintenance lapses and potential negligence. Residents had previously voiced concerns about the building’s quality, but no action was taken. An RWA member acknowledged the tragedy, noting warnings against using the skywalk for gardening purposes to maintain its emergency route function.
