Smart 112 Platform Reduces Call Handling Time for Telangana Residents
Hyderabad – The state’s newly deployed Telangana Emergency Response Support System (TG‑ERSS) leverages artificial intelligence to transform the way emergency calls are managed through the 112 number. By consolidating police, fire, ambulance, women’s protection, child welfare and disaster response agencies, the platform offers a single point of contact for citizens in distress.
The system was unveiled by Police Director General C.V. Anand at the Telangana Integrated Command and Control Centre, where he highlighted the AI‑driven features such as duplicate‑call elimination, severity‑based prioritisation, smart routing, speech‑to‑text transcription and GPS‑enhanced caller localisation.
Performance data collected in the first week shows a dramatic improvement: average operator time fell from 100 seconds to 69 seconds, dispatcher time from 90 seconds to 64 seconds, and overall call‑center processing time dropped by about 30 percent, now averaging 133 seconds.
With urban response times around six minutes, rural times near fifteen minutes and an overall state average of ten minutes thirty seconds, Telangana now leads many Indian states in emergency service efficiency.
