State Pushes VBG‑Ramji Amid Drought, Emphasizes Community Asset Creation

Karnataka’s government has launched the VBG‑Ramji programme to provide additional employment opportunities beyond the scope of MGNREGA, especially as the state battles a prolonged drought. Minister Khandre warned that without swift implementation, vulnerable groups—including the poor, disabled, women and Dalits in rural areas—will remain jobless, undermining the scheme’s objectives. The focus will be on constructing durable community assets that contribute to long‑term rural development while generating immediate livelihood options.
