RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav is set to launch the ‘Bihar Adhikar Yatra’ on Tuesday. According to an RJD statement, Yadav, the Leader of the Opposition in the State Assembly, will commence the yatra from Jehanabad. The journey will span several districts, including Nalanda, Begusarai, Patna, Khagaria, and Samastipur. The yatra is scheduled to conclude on September 20th in Vaishali. Yadav’s constituency, Raghopur, falls within the Vaishali district, and Mahua, previously represented by his elder brother Tej Pratap Yadav, is also located in Vaishali. Tej Pratap is considering contesting from the seat again after being expelled from the party by his father and RJD President, Lalu Prasad.
The first phase of the Bihar Adhikar Yatra will last five days, from September 16th to 20th. During this phase, Yadav is expected to visit NDA strongholds and CM Nitish Kumar’s home district, Nalanda, as well as Begusarai, the constituency of Union Minister Giriraj Singh. Additionally, he will visit Patna, Khagaria, Madhepura, Supaul, Saharsa, and Samastipur. Yadav shared a video on social media, urging people to join the Bihar Adhikar Yatra, emphasizing that it is not just for him but for a new vision focused on employment for the unemployed, women’s safety, and the prosperity of Bihar.
Meanwhile, sources from the NDA claim that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi refrained from announcing Tejashwi Yadav as the chief ministerial candidate during the recent Voter Adhikar Yatra. This, they suggest, led to Yadav’s decision to launch the ‘Bihar Adhikar Yatra’. Sanjay Yadav, a close associate of Yadav and a Rajya Sabha member, explained that the Voter Adhikar Yatra focused on the issue of the erroneous removal of names during the special intensive revision of the voter list. The Bihar Adhikar Yatra, he added, will be another opportunity for the young leader to connect directly with the public, a characteristic that defines him.
