A devastating road accident has claimed the lives of 19 people and left several others injured in Telangana’s Rangareddy district. The collision involved a Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) bus and a truck near Khanapur Gate. The tragic incident occurred early this morning around 6:30 am on the Hyderabad-Bijapur highway, near Mirzaguda in Chevella mandal.
The TGSRTC bus, reportedly carrying 70 passengers en route from Tandur to Hyderabad, was struck head-on by a tipper truck that was traveling on the wrong side of the road. The impact was severe, with the truck’s concrete load reportedly falling onto the bus, trapping victims.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as horrific, with many passengers trapped and crying for help amidst the debris. Emergency services, including police and locals, worked tirelessly to rescue the injured. Three JCBs were deployed to help clear the wreckage and extricate those trapped.
Authorities confirmed that the deceased include the drivers of both the bus and the truck. Several injured individuals were rushed to the Chevella government hospital, with three reported to be in critical condition. Officials have been directed to ensure the best possible medical treatment for all injured passengers.
This incident marks a somber reminder of road safety, especially following another major accident in the region recently. The government has pledged support to the affected families, emphasizing the need for immediate relief and medical assistance.
