Temple Looting Surge Attributed to Lack of Jobs, Pednekar Warns

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Kishori Pednekar said that the recent spate of robberies inside temples is directly linked to the growing unemployment crisis among educated youth. She noted that the thefts are not isolated incidents but reflect a pattern where jobless individuals target places of worship to obtain quick cash.

Pednekar stressed that the solution lies in generating sustainable employment, particularly for graduates who are struggling to enter the job market. She warned that without such interventions, the frequency of temple break‑ins and other petty crimes is likely to climb.

Commenting on the Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors’ protest, Pednekar affirmed the doctors’ right to demonstrate, yet cautioned that any action must avoid disrupting medical services. She called for a balanced approach that pressures the government while safeguarding patient care.

The politician also alluded to controversies surrounding the mayor’s renovation project, invoking a well‑known chant about political opportunism. Pednekar reiterated that addressing the root cause—unemployment—will have the greatest impact on reducing crime and restoring public confidence.
