During the holy month of Sawan, thousands of pilgrims arrived at the Mahakaleshwar Temple to partake in the ash aarti of Baba Mahakal. Many had been queuing since the previous night, dressed in traditional dhoti‑sola for men and sarees for women, as required for the ceremony. After the deity’s sanctum was opened, the priest performed the ash aarti, offering bhanga, sandal, nuts, and ash to the deity. The entire complex resonated with the chant "Jai Shri Mahakal", bells, and the rhythmic beats of drums, creating a powerful monsoon‑season celebration.
