Twisha Sharma Death Probe: Second Autopsy Underway Amid Tight Security

Security remains tight at AIIMS Bhopal as doctors from AIIMS Delhi carry out a court-ordered second postmortem on Twisha Sharma, the young woman whose death has raised serious questions about dowry harassment and possible foul play. The forensic team, led by Dr. Sudhir Gupta and specially flown in by the state government, arrived in Bhopal on Saturday evening. Their mandate comes directly from the Madhya Pradesh High Court, which directed the re-examination after Twisha's family questioned the findings of the initial autopsy. Twisha was discovered hanging at her marital home on May 12. Her relatives have consistently claimed she was tortured for dowry. Her husband Samarth Singh surrendered to police recently and is currently in seven-day remand. The role of his mother is also being examined. The Supreme Court has stepped in, taking suo motu notice of the case and framing it within the larger context of unnatural deaths of women in their in-laws' homes. A bench led by Chief Justice Suryakant will hear the matter on May 25. The second postmortem, which is being video-graphed, is expected to provide critical forensic clarity on whether Twisha died by suicide or was murdered. The state administration has pledged complete support to ensure an impartial investigation.
