Piyush Goyal, Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, has lauded Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s leadership in transforming the state into a prime destination for business and investment. Speaking exclusively, Goyal highlighted the significant improvements in law and order and the development of world-class infrastructure as key drivers of this positive change. He emphasized that Uttar Pradesh now offers a conducive environment for economic activities, reflecting the aspirations of its citizens for a brighter future. Recent data from the Annual Survey of Industries (ASI) 2023-24 corroborates these claims, positioning Uttar Pradesh among India’s top industrial states. The report indicates substantial growth in key economic indicators, including job creation, the number of factory units, overall production, and Gross Value Added (GVA). Industrial employment has seen a notable increase, with over 5.7 million jobs created in the sector over the past decade. The state now ranks among the top five nationally for industrial employment, contributing 8% to the national total. Furthermore, Uttar Pradesh holds the fourth position in India for the number of factory units, signifying a robust expansion of its industrial base, fueled by improved infrastructure and an attractive investment climate. Production and GVA have also witnessed record growth, with UP contributing significantly to the national GVA, especially in crucial sectors like basic metals, motor vehicles, and pharmaceuticals.
