In his fifth year in office, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is preparing to introduce a comprehensive women’s policy for the state of Uttarakhand. This pioneering policy, designed to be women-centric, is expected to be presented to the cabinet shortly. The primary objective is to establish a structured framework for the economic and social advancement of women. Over the past four years, the Dhami government has already implemented significant initiatives, including a 30% reservation for women in government jobs and the introduction of women’s reservation in cooperative societies. These actions aim to bolster women’s leadership across all levels. Furthermore, schemes like Mahila Saarthi Yojana, Ekal Mahila Swarozgar Yojana, and Lakhpati Didi have been successfully launched to foster economic independence among women.
