Ahead of the Bihar assembly elections, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is making a series of major announcements. In this sequence, he has announced a Rs 25,000 allowance for Vikas Mitras. Simultaneously, he has announced Rs 10,000 for education workers for smartphones. CM Nitish made this announcement on the social media platform X.
CM Nitish stated in the announcement that Vikas Mitras working under the Bihar Mahadalit Vikas Mission will be given a one-time payment of Rs 25,000 to purchase tablets.
**Who are Vikas Mitras?**
The Bihar Mahadalit Vikas Mission was established in 2009 to provide the benefits of government schemes to the Mahadalit community in Bihar. The Bihar Mahadalit Vikas Mission selected Vikas Mitras in all the panchayats/ward clusters of the state. Under this, Vikas Mitras work to provide information about government schemes and government facilities to the public, particularly the Mahadalit community. Vikas Mitras act as a bridge between the government and Mahadalit families. Their previous honorarium was Rs 13,700, which CM Nitish has increased to Rs 25,000.
**What else did CM Nitish announce?**
CM Nitish Kumar wrote on social media platform X that his government is continuously working for the upliftment of the underprivileged sections of society, following the principle of development with justice. Vikas Mitras play an important role in delivering the benefits of government welfare schemes to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. Keeping this in mind, it has been decided to give a one-time payment of Rs 25,000 to every Vikas Mitra working under the Bihar Mahadalit Vikas Mission for purchasing tablets, so that they can be facilitated in data collection of beneficiaries of various welfare schemes and other work.
In addition, the decision has been made to increase the transport allowance of Vikas Mitras from Rs 1,900 per month to Rs 2,500 per month and the stationery allowance from Rs 900 to Rs 1,500. This will facilitate them in field visits and other work.
**Rs 10,000 to buy mobiles**
Along with this, CM Nitish wrote that it has been decided to provide an amount of Rs 10,000 each to the education workers (including Talimi Markaz) who are playing an important role in providing education to the children of Mahadalit, Dalit, minority and extremely backward classes and in making women literate under the Akshar Aanchal Yojana, to purchase smart phones for editing digital activities.
The amount being paid in the teaching material head has been decided to be increased from Rs 3405 to Rs 6,000 per center per year. This will boost the morale of the Vikas Mitras and education workers and they will perform their duties with more enthusiasm and dedication.
