Following a second shooting at Kapil Sharma’s Kaps Cafe in Surrey, Canada, within a month, several questions have arisen. While no injuries were reported, the incidents suggest the gangster’s aim is to intimidate Kapil Sharma rather than cause harm. The responsibility for the recent firing, similar to the previous one, has been claimed by the Lawrence Bishnoi alliance, including Goldy Brar, Ankit Bandhu Sherewala, Jitendra Gogi Mann Group, Kala Rana, Aruzu Bishnoi, Hari Boxer, Shubham Lonkar, and Sahil Duhan Petwad. Investigations by Indian security agencies reveal several reasons why Kapil Sharma is a target for the Lawrence gang.
Kapil Sharma’s proximity to Salman Khan, who has been a prime target of the Lawrence gang since the blackbuck hunting case, is considered a significant factor. The gang has issued multiple death threats to Salman Khan and conducted surveillance on his properties, including his farmhouse and Galaxy Apartments, followed by firing incidents. This has led to increased security for Salman Khan. Kapil Sharma’s growing closeness to Salman Khan in recent years, placing him among Salman’s inner circle, is seen as a provocation by the Lawrence gang and its alliance. They may be targeting Kapil Sharma to send a warning to Salman Khan’s other associates.
Another potential reason for the targeting is a controversial remark made by a participant on Kapil Sharma’s show regarding Sikh religious sentiments. This led to threats against Kapil Sharma, prompting the Lawrence gang to take action. Furthermore, Kapil Sharma’s rising stardom and the potential for extortion may be at play. With Kapil Sharma’s show attracting numerous Bollywood celebrities and prominent figures, he has achieved significant fame and wealth. Sources suggest that the gang might be seeking to extort Kapil for crores of rupees. Finally, the gang’s strategy to establish a stronghold in Bollywood, similar to the D-Company, could be another motive. They have previously targeted singers and actors in Punjab, extorting them for protection money and may now attempt to create a climate of fear in Bollywood by targeting Kapil Sharma.
Connections to the Baba Siddiqui murder case in Mumbai, where Shubham Lonkar, a close associate of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, was arrested, might also be a factor. The recent social media posts following the shooting at Kapil Sharma’s cafe mentioned Shubham Lonkar’s name, potentially indicating a message targeting Salman Khan and his associates, as Salman Khan was close to Baba Siddiqui.
