Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held a detailed assessment of Uttar Pradesh’s power infrastructure on Sunday to tackle the rising electricity demand caused by extreme heat. He instructed energy department officials to maintain full operational readiness and avoid any supply gaps for citizens, agriculture, and industry. Data shared in the meeting showed that the state’s power generation capacity has grown 86 percent since 2022. Transmission lines now span over 60,000 circuit kilometers, and the number of damaged transformers has dropped sharply due to better maintenance. Peak demand crossed 30,000 MW recently, yet the state managed supply efficiently through inter-state power banking. The CM directed field teams to respond quickly to faults and ensure transparent communication with consumers. He also asked ministers to personally inspect the new 1912 call center handling up to 90,000 calls daily. Emphasis was placed on completing smart meter billing reforms and launching special grievance redressal camps until June 30. The government aims to deliver reliable power throughout the summer.
