In a significant development, Zeeshan Akhtar, identified as the mastermind behind the murder of NCP MLA Baba Siddique, has been arrested in Canada. Also known as Jassi or Yasin Akhtar, he was taken into custody by Canadian authorities. The tragic shooting of Baba Siddique occurred on October 12, 2024, outside his son’s office in Bandra. Authorities are currently working to extradite Akhtar to India for further investigation and legal proceedings. Initial reports suggest the involvement of Lawrence Bishnoi’s brother-in-law in the crime. The murder is believed to have been orchestrated by Lawrence Bishnoi, with the motive allegedly linked to Baba Siddique’s close relationship with Bollywood actor Salman Khan. It is believed that this connection led to Siddique’s targeting. Previous arrests in the case revealed links to the Lawrence Bishnoi Gang, with a total of 26 individuals apprehended, including key figures like Shiv Kumar Gautam and Anmol Bishnoi. Before the Siddique murder, Lawrence Bishnoi had reportedly planned an attack on the residence of singer AP Dhillon in Canada. Following the murder, Baba Siddique’s son, Zeeshan Siddique, also received death threats. Zeeshan Akhtar is expected to be brought to India soon as the extradition process has begun. Further details are awaited, as authorities continue to monitor the situation closely. Mohammad Zeeshan Akhtar, a suspect identified earlier by the Mumbai Crime Branch, is believed to have coordinated the killing from afar, providing crucial information and logistical support, including arranging accommodations for the shooters. Akhtar, a resident of Shakar village in Nakodar, Jalandhar, was previously arrested in 2022 for involvement in organized crime, murder, and robbery. He was released on June 7, 2024, and allegedly received instructions from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang while incarcerated in Patiala Jail to carry out the murder of Siddique.
