Adani Legal Victory: Indian Leaders React to DOJ Ruling

The U.S. Department of Justice has officially dropped its criminal case against the Adani Group, marking the end of a high-profile investigation that had raised questions about international business practices. Reactions from influential figures in the Indian-American community have been swift and largely favorable. Former Biden White House advisor Ajay Jain Bhutoria stated that the prosecution could not meet the burden of proof required to continue the case. He stressed that judicial decisions must rest on evidence rather than assumptions, adding that the matter was handled through proper legal channels. Adapa Prasad, President of BJP USA, celebrated the ruling as a triumph of truth. He noted that all three major U.S. agencies involved—the DOJ, SEC, and OFAC—had withdrawn their actions, underscoring the importance of solid evidence over speculation. Mukesh Aghii of the U.S.-India Strategic Partnership Forum argued that clearing the Adani Group’s name opens doors for greater investment flows between India and the United States. He pointed out that without proof of bribery, continuing the case would have damaged economic diplomacy. Additional comments from Khanderav Kand and Puneet Ahluwalia reinforced the view that this decision strengthens bilateral ties and reflects a maturing partnership based on mutual trust and shared economic interests.
