Farmers in Chainpur, located near Medininagar in the Palamu district, are facing a severe crisis as nilgai herds are destroying over 50 acres of their farmland. These wild animals are reportedly entering farms in large groups daily, consuming and trampling valuable crops. Despite round-the-clock efforts by the farmers to protect their harvests, their hard work is being ruined. The affected villages include Kolhua, Karamdih, Mahuliya, Kektuva, and Parsia. Farmers have appealed to the Divisional Forest Officer in Medininagar for urgent intervention. One farmer shared photographic evidence of nilgai grazing on mustard, rye, gram, and potato crops, highlighting the escalating damage. There is growing frustration among the farming community towards the Forest Department for its perceived inaction and the government. The persistent threat has led some farmers to abandon cultivation altogether, plunging them into significant financial hardship and despair as they survey their devastated fields.
