PM Modi, Cyprus President Elevate Ties to Strategic Partnership

Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides to Hyderabad House in New Delhi on Friday for wide-ranging talks aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation. The meeting marked a significant milestone in relations that have consistently stood the test of time. Modi recalled the warm reception he received in Cyprus last year and praised the Cypriot leader for bestowing India’s highest honour upon him. The two leaders agreed to transform their friendship into a full-fledged strategic partnership. They announced a clear roadmap to double Cyprus-origin investment into India over the next five years, building on the progress already achieved in the last decade. Discussions also touched upon the need for urgent reform of global institutions and the importance of early resolution of conflicts in Ukraine and West Asia. With this upgraded partnership, both countries hope to unlock new opportunities in trade, defence, and cultural exchanges.
