Indian cricket sensation Smriti Mandhana and music director Palash Muchhal’s highly anticipated wedding has been the subject of intense speculation following its abrupt postponement. Originally set for November 23, the ceremony was delayed due to the sudden illness of Smriti’s father, Srinivas. He was hospitalized in Sangli, their hometown, and Palash also required brief medical attention. While both have since been discharged, no new wedding date has been officially announced by either family.
Social media buzzed with rumors of a December 7 wedding date. However, these claims were swiftly refuted by Smriti’s brother, Shravan Mandhana. He informed the media that no wedding plans have been finalized as of yet, stating, “As of now, it (the wedding) is still postponed.” This statement quashes the circulating rumors about an imminent ceremony.
Palash Muchhal’s mother, Amita Muchhal, shared her hopes for a swift resolution, acknowledging the emotional difficulty faced by both families. She expressed optimism, stating, “Smriti and Palash are both in distress… Palash dreamt of coming home with his bride. I had even planned a special welcome…Everything will be fine, the wedding will happen very soon.”
The situation has garnered significant attention, with support pouring in from the sports and entertainment industries. Actor Suniel Shetty commended cricketer Jemimah Rodrigues for her support, highlighting her decision to withdraw from the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) to be with Smriti during this challenging time. Shetty lauded this act as a testament to true friendship and solidarity.
