New Delhi: AICC will convene a 3-day meeting of around 700 District Congress Committee (DCC) presidents here in three batches on March 27-28 and April 3, with the agenda of implementing a new organisational blueprint aimed at making DCCs the “central point” of Congress organisation with a say in candidate election and in efforts to strengthen the party machinery on the ground.
The pilot project will be implemented in poll-bound Gujarat.
The decisions were taken at a meeting of AICC general secretaries and in-charges which was attended by party chief Mallikarjun Kharge and leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi.ET had reported that AICC office-bearers’ meeting was being called in the backdrop of an informal group of party leaders, including Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, holding deliberations on a blueprint on strengthening DCCs and booth committees. It is learnt that during Tuesday’s meeting, the participants were formally informed that AICC general secretary Mukul Wasnik has been heading that committee, with Vadra among the members.
