In a swift and coordinated operation, Bengaluru’s Central Crime Branch arrested 23 people involved in illegal betting during IPL 2026. The raids, conducted under the guidance of top police brass, led to the seizure of assets worth more than ₹13.39 crore. Officers registered nine cases at the CCB police station alone. Among the confiscated items were betting chips valued at ₹13.37 crore, several high-end mobile phones, and substantial cash. The operation specifically focused on areas where betting activity had surged ahead of the league’s knockout stage. Police sources confirmed that the arrested individuals were part of well-organized syndicates operating across different parts of the city. The timing of the raids coincides with the final stages of IPL 2026, when betting volumes typically spike due to the high stakes involved in playoff matches. Authorities emphasized that while such enforcement actions disrupt operations temporarily, sustained vigilance is required to curb the menace. The arrested suspects will be produced before a magistrate shortly.
