During the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, the Indian team showcased an excellent performance, leading to a 2-2 tie in the five-match Test series. However, some players didn’t get a chance to play and remained on the bench throughout. One such opening batsman expressed his disappointment to his father. His father revealed this conversation. Now, head coach Gautam Gambhir has assured the player, potentially ending opening batsman Abhimanyu Easwaran’s four-year wait.
Easwaran was hopeful of playing in the fifth Test match against England, but was disappointed at not being included in the playing XI. His father, Ranganathan Parameswaran Easwaran, shared this in an interview on a YouTube channel. He mentioned that Easwaran told him over the phone, “Father, I still haven’t gotten a place.”
Easwaran had performed well for the India-A team in England. Despite this, he didn’t get a place in the playing XI. He was first included in the Indian team in 2021-22, but he is yet to make his debut. Easwaran’s father also stated that coach Gautam Gambhir has given his son a lot of assurance.
After not getting a chance in the final Test match, opening batsman Abhimanyu Easwaran was quite disappointed. His father, Parameswaran Easwaran, revealed that coach Gautam Gambhir spoke to his son, assuring him that he was doing the right things and would definitely get a chance to play. Gambhir told him he would play for India for a long time.
Gautam Gambhir said, “I am not someone who will drop you from the team after one or two matches. I will give you a long opportunity.” Abhimanyu told me that the entire coaching staff assured him that he would get his due. Parameswaran Easwaran said that his son has been waiting to play for the country for 4 years, and has worked hard for 23 years. After returning from England, Abhimanyu has started preparing for the Duleep Trophy.
Abhimanyu Easwaran’s father mentioned that his son will go to Bengaluru to prepare for the Duleep Trophy. He will stay there for 10-12 days. He will come to Dehradun for a few days and then go back.
