Adani International School, located in Shantigram, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, successfully hosted the ISSO National Games Chess Competition 2025. The two-day event celebrated strategy, intelligence, and sportsmanship. Over 370 students from more than 80 schools across 10 Indian states participated. The presence of over 650 attendees, including parents, coaches, and supporters, transformed the campus into a vibrant hub of competition and camaraderie.
The tournament featured four distinct categories: Under 11, Under 14, Under 17, and Under 19, providing opportunities for players at every stage of chess development. Throughout the exciting two-day tournament, participants demonstrated their remarkable strategies, skills, and composure even under pressure.
Namrata Adani, the promoter of Adani International School, was present at the opening ceremony. She interacted warmly with the students. Bhavesh Patel, the former secretary of the Gujarat State Chess Association and the Vice President of the All India Chess Federation, along with Grandmaster Ankit Rajpara, encouraged the young players and shared their experiences.
India is experiencing a new era in chess on a global level. The consistent presence of talented players like R. Praggnanandhaa and D. Gukesh is challenging the world’s best players, solidifying India’s strong position among the top chess nations. The root of this international success lies in the country’s robust school-level ecosystem, where tournaments like the one hosted by Adani International School provide young players with high-level competitive experience from the beginning.
By promoting talent through such platforms, India is building a system that prepares players for the world’s best tournaments, ensuring that the next generation of champions emerges from classrooms and campuses across the country.
The event once again proved Adani International School’s commitment to education, where excellence in sports enhances intellectual development. Medals were awarded in all four categories at the closing ceremony. The overall champion and runner-up were announced as the highlights of the tournament. Chhatrbhuj Narsi School, Mumbai, was declared the overall champion, while Indus International School, Hyderabad, was the runner-up. Both schools consistently performed well.
