Ahmedabad Gears Up for 2030 Commonwealth Games as Shah Inspects Infrastructure

The city of Ahmedabad is intensifying its infrastructural drive ahead of the 2030 Commonwealth Games, with Home Minister Amit Shah overseeing the latest developments. In a review session at the Circuit House Annex, project leads presented progress reports on stadium upgrades, a new sports enclave named after Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, and a range of supporting services.

Key milestones highlighted include the completion of the Narendra Modi Stadium’s new seating tiers, the operational readiness of the athletes’ village, and enhancements to public transport corridors linking major venues.

Shah reiterated that meeting international standards is non‑negotiable and that any gaps must be addressed promptly to ensure a seamless Commonwealth Games experience. He also reiterated the city's ambition to be shortlisted for the 2036 Olympic Games, a goal that hinges on the successful delivery of the Commonwealth event.

India secured the right to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games after a comprehensive assessment of sports infrastructure across more than 70 nations, underscoring the country's growing stature in global sports.
