Amazon Warriors clinch win as Imran Tahir stars with five for 17

Guyaná, 10 September – The Amazon Warriors secured a crucial CPL 2026 victory over the St Lucia Kings thanks to an exceptional performance from Imran Tahir. The 47‑year‑old leg‑spinner produced figures of 5/17 in four overs, effectively dismantling the Kings' innings and restricting them to 119 all out.

St Lucia’s decision to bat first after winning the toss backfired as Tahir’s spin proved lethal. He claimed the wickets of top‑order batsmen and kept the run rate in check, leaving the Kings 18.5 overs short of the target.

In response, Amazon chased down the required 120 runs with six wickets down in 18.3 overs. Glen Phillips led the charge with a steady 37 off 40 deliveries, complemented by Quentin Samson’s blitz of five sixes in just 11 balls. The Warriors’ lower order contributed crucial runs, ensuring a four‑wicket win.
