Argentina’s Young International Valentin Barco Commits to Chelsea Through 2033
In a major transfer move, Chelsea Football Club has secured the services of Argentine international Valentin Barco on a contract that runs until 2033. The 22‑year‑old midfielder joins from RC Strasbourg after a season that saw him score 12 goals in 43 games.
Barco’s football education began at Boca Juniors, where he broke into the first team at just 16. After winning several domestic trophies, he ventured to England in 2024, signing for Brighton & Hove Albion before spending time on loan at Sevilla and Strasbourg.
His impact at Strasbourg was immediate, contributing to the club’s deep run in the UEFA Conference League and helping them clinch a spot in European competition. The performances earned him a place in Argentina’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where he featured in the group stage and netted against Iceland.
Barco has accumulated five senior caps for Argentina, scoring in friendly matches against Zambia and Iceland. He will now link up with Chelsea manager Jabi Alonzo and his new teammates as the club prepares for the upcoming Premier League season.
The long‑term deal reflects Chelsea’s confidence in Barco’s ability to develop into a world‑class midfielder and adds a promising talent to their roster.
