The upcoming Asia Cup 2025, scheduled to commence on September 9 and conclude with the final on September 28, has seen a significant adjustment to its match timings. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a change to the start times of most matches.
The modification involves a later start time for 18 out of the 19 matches, including the highly anticipated final. These matches will now begin at 6:30 PM local time, which translates to 8:00 PM IST. This shift affects the much-awaited India vs. Pakistan encounter.
The primary reason for this scheduling change is to address the extreme heat conditions prevalent across the Indian subcontinent during September, where temperatures can reach up to 40°C. The later start times are intended to safeguard player well-being and ensure the quality of play.
All of India’s group-stage and potential knockout matches will adopt the revised timing, providing fans with a slightly delayed but more convenient viewing experience. The only exception to the new schedule is the UAE vs. Oman match, which will proceed as planned on September 15 at the Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
This adjustment promises a more comfortable playing environment for athletes and a prime-time viewing experience for fans, adding an interesting element to the Asia Cup 2025.
