Australia’s Clean Sweep in T20s Ends as India Wins ODI Opener

Mohanli, September 20 – After dominating the T20 leg of the tour with a 3‑0 whitewash, the Australian women's side saw their momentum halted by India in the opening ODI of the series.

Australia posted 235 runs in 46.3 overs, anchored by an 81‑run opening partnership between Rachel Trainam (36) and captain Tahliya Wilson (48). The middle order failed to build on the start, with Charlie Not (39) and Katie Mack (23) adding only 62 runs for the third wicket before the innings collapsed at 174 for six.

India’s chase began poorly, slipping to 46 for three. The turning point arrived when Tejal Hassains and Anushka Sharma combined for a 126‑run partnership, raising the scoreboard to 172. Sharma’s 55 off 61 balls and Hassains’ unbeaten 81 off 82 balls set the platform for the win.

Finishing the chase, Niki Prasad (32*), Sailee Satghare (40) and the tail ensured the target was met with four wickets left. Tes Flintoff and Frankie Nicklin each claimed two wickets for Australia.

With the series now at 1‑0, India will look to consolidate their advantage in the remaining ODIs on September 23 and 25, before a solitary Test on September 29.
