Australia's ODI lineup reshuffled ahead of September series in Harare and Cape Town

Cricket Australia announced a revamped ODI squad for the September tour of Zimbabwe and South Africa, leaving out long‑time batsman Marnus Labuschagne due to a prolonged dip in form. Labuschagne’s recent ODI numbers – 24 runs from three matches against Pakistan and a lone fifty against Bangladesh – failed to meet the standards required for a World Cup‑building phase.

The board has reinstated seasoned campaigners Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head, while promoting youthful prospects Joel Davis and Oliver Pike, both of whom performed well in recent limited‑overs assignments.

Pat Cummins will captain the side in Harare, with Alex Carey, Cooper Connolly, Nathan Ellis, Cameron Green, Josh Hazlewood, Josh Inglis, Spencer Johnson, Matthew Renshaw, Billy Stanlake, Mitchell Starc and Adam Zampa rounding out the eleven. Cummins and Marsh will sit out the Zimbabwe leg and join the squad for the South Africa matches.

Chief selector George Bailey described the six ODIs as "critical preparation ahead of the 2027 World Cup" and emphasized the need for a mix of core talent and emerging players. The fixtures are set for 15, 18 and 20 September in Harare, followed by 24, 27 and 30 September in South Africa.
