Former Indian cricket team captain and star batsman Virat Kohli, though currently away from cricket action, remains a prominent figure in media and social media. His activities, from social media posts to discussions about his career, often generate buzz. Recently, he found himself in the spotlight again, this time due to a statement that many were anticipating. This statement came not from Kohli himself, but from TV actress and social media personality Avneet Kaur, whose photo sparked a controversy involving Kohli.
During IPL 2025, while Virat was showcasing his batting skills for Royal Challengers Bangalore, a surprising activity on his Instagram account caught everyone’s attention. A photo of Avneet Kaur was liked from Virat’s official account. Given Virat’s massive following of over 270 million, any action on his Instagram account immediately draws the attention of users. This like did not go unnoticed and quickly went viral on both Instagram and X (formerly Twitter).
After the controversy erupted, Kohli clarified that the like was due to an Instagram algorithm error, denying any personal involvement. While Kohli’s explanation was met with skepticism, the issue eventually subsided. Now, approximately four months later, Avneet Kaur has finally responded. During a promotional event for her upcoming film ‘Love in Vietnam,’ when asked about Virat’s ‘like,’ Avneet, without mentioning Kohli’s name, simply stated, “May love continue… What else can I say?”
Regarding Virat Kohli, fans will have to wait to see the star batsman back on the field. Kohli is expected to return during the Indian team’s Australia tour, scheduled for October, which includes three ODI matches. Meanwhile, 23-year-old Avneet Kaur is busy promoting her film, set to release on September 12th, where she plays the lead role alongside Shantanu Maheshwari.
